What has been found most effective is use of the 64-slide PowerPoint as an initial introduction/training of the ONE VOICE approach, placement of ONE VOICE posters in staff break rooms and patient rooms/exam rooms, and ID badge card reminders for staff.
Use a combination of the following materials to keep the ONE VOICE approach fresh.
On the PRODUCTS page, you will find the following materials:
CD with PowerPoint presentation - there are three files on this disc:
64-slide PowerPoint presentation. This ONE VOICE training PowerPoint includes the "wrong way" and the "right way" video clips and was developed for use by child life specialists and other medical personnel. The PowerPoint is a comprehensive teaching tool that covers all elements of the ONE VOICE approach: addresses the need to limit conversation during procedures, importance of parental involvement, educating patients using developmentally appropriate language (examples included), utilization of comfort positions (photos included), importance of distraction and supporting research, and addresses need to limit number of staff in room. Average length to do this presentation is 35-45 minutes. ADOBE READER needed to run presentation.
PowerPoint presentation handouts: Can be printed to provide an accompanying set of handouts for attendees.
25-slide PowerPoint presentation: This shortened version was designed for use during annual competencies. Because this is designed as a refresher, some of the supporting information has been left out, but all the highlights are included. This version is not recommended to be used as the main training tool. This file comes as a .pdf and should compatible with most hospital intranet systems for use during annual competency review.
Place posters throughout your facility to serve as a visual reminder to staff of the ONE VOICE elements. Placing them in patient rooms, exam rooms and staff break rooms are great places to promote visibility and awareness.
